Accenture SL island and development paid for itself after only 5-6 events

Accenture, named by Business Week #8 in “Best Places to Launch a Career in 2007”  has been using Second Life since 2006 and the recruiting done there has paid for itself. What was gratifying to hear was that their island and development paid for itself after only 5-6 events.

According to ThinkBalm’s Erica Driver:

“If you think about recruitment at Accenture taking place in 49 countries, and each of these countries using the Accenture Careers island rather than building its own, the cost savings really start to stack up.”

But is getting up to speed in Second Life too hard; too steep a learning curve? Not if Accenture’s goals are taken into consideration.

They are looking for tech-savvy people and they show at least some skill if they can create Second Life accounts and relatively professional-looking avatars, find their way to the Accenture Careers island and the specific meeting location, and communicate with the recruiter via text chat or voice.

Smart. Smart company and smart people.
